SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The course aims to enhance students' knowledge and skills in the history of photography, shooting techniques, use of light, and principles of composition. In this context, it seeks to enable all participants to produce meaningful, impactful, and narratively strong photographs, inspired by significant works of photographic art. The course also encourages the development of visual storytelling abilities, fostering students' capacity to convey emotions, ideas, and narratives through photography. Additionally, it supports the cultivation of a critical perspective and active, conscious engagement in the process of artistic production.
Course Content: This course aims to provide students with fundamental technical knowledge in the field of photography. Key elements that constitute a photograph—such as content, form, composition, and framing—are covered alongside various shooting techniques. Different genres of photography, including street photography, studio photography, and conceptual photography, are examined. The course also introduces the use of photographic equipment and methods for taking effective photographs with both cameras and smartphones. Additionally, it offers a theoretical foundation through the exploration of the creative history of photography and the works of significant photographic artists. Through photography assignments, students are encouraged to develop both their technical skills and creative expression.
