| Course Objectives: |
The aim of this course is to teach publication graphic concepts in the field of Graphic Design and to provide theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the design processes of multi-page print and digital publications. Within the scope of the course, students are expected to be able to prepare book, magazine, newspaper, catalog, and similar publication designs with aesthetic and functional integrity using the principles of typography, layout, grid systems, visual hierarchy, and page arrangement. |
| Course Content: |
This course covers the fundamental concepts and application areas of publication graphic design. The historical development of publication graphics and the types of print and digital publications are examined. Typography rules, layout principles, grid systems, page layout, and visual hierarchy are discussed both theoretically and practically. Throughout the course, the design processes of books, magazines, newspapers, catalogs, and similar multi-page publications are evaluated in terms of content planning, cover design, page flow, and visual integrity. Pre-press processes, paper types, color management, and technical applications are introduced. Furthermore, digital publication design, e-publication formats, and current publication design approaches are discussed. In practical exercises, students are guided to develop original publication designs based on a given topic and target audience, and to present their projects. |
