SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to teach students the fundamental techniques of photography and to equip them with knowledge about camera usage, lighting, composition, and shooting methods, enabling them to produce technically accurate and creatively strong photographs.
Course Content: In this course, the history and fundamental concepts of photography will be examined; types of cameras and basic equipment knowledge will be explored; shutter speed, aperture, and ISO values will be explained within the context of the exposure triangle; and different types of lenses and their areas of use will be introduced. Along with the use of natural and artificial light, basic composition rules will be emphasized, and various genres of photography such as portrait, landscape, documentary, and street photography will be discussed.

  1) Explains the history of photography, its basic concepts and development process.
  2) Defines fundamental technical concepts such as the camera, lens, exposure, and light.
  3) Gains theoretical knowledge about different types of photography and principles of composition.

  1) Takes technically and aesthetically strong photographs by applying correct lighting, angles, and composition rules.
  2) Develops visual evaluation skills on the photographs taken.
  3) Identifies technical problems encountered during shooting and produces solutions.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Actively contributes to the photography production process and takes responsibility.
  2) Plans and executes the photography process, and analyzes their own production process.
  3) Produces original and creative works by applying technical and aesthetic approaches suitable for different types of photography.
  4) Gains confidence in expressing ideas and emotions through visual storytelling.
