SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to develop students' graphic design abilities with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop package program and to make them work in digital environment.
Course Content: Designing vector and pixel based graphic design products using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop to teach students creative thinking and problem solving.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are those describing the knowledge, skills and competencies that students are expected to achieve upon successful completion of the course. In this context, Course Learning Outcomes defined for this course unit are as follows:
Knowledge (Described as Theoritical and/or Factual Knowledge.)
  1) 1- Recognize the relevant principles of basic communication, design and graphic design. 2- Graphic design workshops such as advertising, publishing, printing, and information on industry needs. 3- It is used in graphic design, has enough information to use computer programs sufficiently. 4. Has knowledge about the values of professional responsibility and ethics. 5- Recognize contemporary, original, aesthetic and applicable graphic design products. 6- Knows and follows the authorities in the field of art and design. 7- Recognizes computer-aided graphic design programs. 8- Recognizes the stages of design, application and printing.

  1) 1- It has aesthetic point of view to produce graphic design products. 2- It creates graphic design products and projects. 3- Planning the stages of creation, application and production of graphic design. 4- Designs all kinds of graphic design product. 5- Use computer aided graphic design programs effectively and quickly. 6- Know the stages of design before printing and after printing.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) 1- Independently prepare the processes of creating ideas, drafts, concepts, preparing applications and printing, in creating graphic design products. 2- Advertising agencies, graphic design studios, advertising departments of companies; create advertising campaign concepts and design products. 3- It has the ability to present and present its designs and projects. 4- Followed up-to-date communication programs and design perspective.
  2) 1- Critically evaluates the advanced knowledge in the field of graphic design. 2- To have the consciousness of the necessity of lifelong learning. 3. Continuously develops professional knowledge and skills. 4- It gains the ability to evaluate its designs from an objective point of view.
  3) 1- Design all kinds of graphic design products according to design criteria. 2. Has the ability to use professional computer programs professionally, efficiently and quickly. 3 - Professional responsibilities related to work areas such as advertising agencies and design studios are capable of acting in accordance with their ethical values.
