SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The student who takes this course explains the stage design principles in terms of visual, acoustic, thermal and indoor air conditioning, functionality, material, ergonomics and detail, and can create optimum designs as a result of the design, planning, detailing and application stages.
Course Content: The content of this course includes the concept of space related to stage design, regulations on stage structures, building physics (acoustics, light), indoor air conditioning, ergonomics, material and furniture selection. Students who successfully complete this course carry out creative, up-to-date stage and performance space design projects with the theoretical and practical knowledge they have acquired, using design thinking and creative thinking methods.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are those describing the knowledge, skills and competencies that students are expected to achieve upon successful completion of the course. In this context, Course Learning Outcomes defined for this course unit are as follows:
Knowledge (Described as Theoritical and/or Factual Knowledge.)
  1) Describes the current approaches in hall and stage design.
  2) Examines the performance hall structures regulations (stage fire insulation and exit, auditorium seating system and exit, entrance and exit in public areas).
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) Determines the design criteria for performance hall design (concert, theater, multi-purpose hall).
  2) Develops indoor air conditioning and design criteria together with building physics issues (acoustics, light).
  3) Designs a stage and performance area interior project.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Manages the space planning process in the light of technical knowledge in the field of design.
  2) Makes decisions about the building elements, furniture, equipment and finishing materials to be used in stage and performance spaces, and makes plans in detail.
