Course Objectives: |
The aim of this course is to enable students to acquire basic knowledge about psychology and theories, and to recognize different sub-fields of psychology. Besides students will improve their abilities to evaluate the elements related to mental and behavioral processes of these fields with a holistic approach and to assess psychology theories and relate each other. |
Course Content: |
This course examines the history, major concepts and main theories of psychology, sub-fields of psychology, biological, psychological and social foundations of human behavior. This course also deals with research methodology commonly used by psychologists, neurological bases of psychological processes, sensation, perception, learning and motivation processes, main theories of developmental psychology and social psychology. Physical, psychological and social developmental characteristics, social norms, interpersonal relationships, conformity and obedience will be discussed in detail. |
