Course Objectives: |
To introduce students to the History of Graphic Design and to provide them with the understanding of the periods through examples, to give information about the effects of today's Contemporary Graphic Design, to make examinations and evaluations. |
Course Content: |
In this course, developments in Graphic Design from the starting point of Graphic Design History are covered. Explains the development of graphic design on movements in the field of art and culture. The effects of 20th century industrial revolution on graphic design, The Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau movements; Modernist period in the first half of the 20th century, Bauhaus and New Typography, Modernist approaches in America; Typographic approaches in the information age and globalization process, The New York School, corporate identity and new visual communication systems; Postmodernism and graphic design, the Digital Revolution and Beyond, by examining the important events in the field of design from the 20th century to the present day, the major developments in the history of graphic design that guide current trends are taught. |
