SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to enable students to use photography as a tool for documentation, and to provide them with knowledge and skills in basic photography techniques, composition rules, and the use of light. It also aims to enhance students' visual storytelling abilities, encourage awareness of ethical principles in documentation, and help them understand the role of photography in the documentation process across various disciplines.
Course Content: This course focuses on the use of photography as a tool for documentation, emphasizing technical topics such as basic photography equipment, light, angle, framing, and composition. While exploring different types of documentary photography, students are expected to produce photographs with documentary value through their own shooting practices. Additionally, topics such as ethics in photography and visual storytelling are also covered within the scope of the course.

  2) Can describe basic photography equipment and shooting elements such as light, framing, angle and composition.

  1) Can produce photographic works of documentary value in line with a specific subject or theme.
  2) Can apply various lighting, angle, and composition techniques in accordance with the narrative language and visual structure of documentary photography
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Can independently plan and execute their own photography project.
  2) They can evaluate visual narration within a social or cultural context and act in accordance with ethical rules and the responsibility of visual representation in photographic documentation.
