SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: This course aims at introducing students to the impact of the Information and Communication Technologies on businesses. it also encourages students to be familiarized with the core terminology of E-business and E-marketing. This course provides insight in the importance and the procedure of an e-business company strategy.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are those describing the knowledge, skills and competencies that students are expected to achieve upon successful completion of the course. In this context, Course Learning Outcomes defined for this course unit are as follows:

  1) Knowledge and understanding of Information and communication systems and their use in, and impact on, the daily life and work organisation from the E-Business perspective.
  2) Knowledge and understanding of the impact of information and communication technologies on the workplace organization and the competitive environment by using them as a basis for sustainable competitive advantage
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) Students collects information from a variety of sources and use it to build analyses of their case studies. They also develop an understanding of some sort of professional issues involved in managing the adoption and development of the projects in the E-Business environment.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Students are encouraged to balance their time/resources to deliver a range of formally and informally assessed outcomes such as presentations, written reports, case analyses, and tutorial and discussions.
  2) Students comprehend basic technical definitions of e-business systems and analysis techniques for them. The subject material cover basic lessons concerning the adoption and development of IS in an E-Business Context.
  3) Students are encouraged to interact with others in a verbal and written form through commenting on all discussions and shared works/presentations.
